The twist here is, Peter Parker and Doctor Otto Octavius (Doc Ock) will switch bodies via mind transferance in issue 700 - the very last issue - of The Amazing Spider-Man. They switch bodies, but not memories. Which means Peter Parker will be able to see every memory that Doc Ock ever had (including, presumably, Doctor Octavius lusty sex fantasies about Aunt May - they nearly got married you'll recall) and Doc Ock will finally see all that makes Peter Parker aka Spider-Man tick. And what will that mean? It means that ego-driven Doc Ock will want to be a good guy - the best Spider-Man ever, better than Peter Parker with all of his hang-ups - while Peter Parker will die in the sick, aging, decaying, body of old Doc Ock: Suffering in the living hell of Doc Ock's mad mental history.

Oh yay! What a hideous death for a beloved superhero and what a great reward for an egotistical, homicidal maniac!

If you think that crazy crap like switching identities with people only happens in comic books, you're dead wrong!

On December 14, in Perth, Australia at Graylands Hospital, a mental hospital patient (held against his will) escaped. Cops immediately responded and, not being able to find the patient, brought in an innocent man as a substitute.

The hospital staff looked right at the wrong guy and presumably said, "Close enough!" and promptly shot him up full of the strongest, scariest anti-schizophrenic medication they could get their mitts upon, Clozapine.

While their victim struggled and proclaimed his innocence, the sitcom doctors at the whacky ward apparently laughed his terror off with a "Yeah, that's what they all say!"

The Clopazine tripped switches on the victim, causing him to suffer an unanticipated adverse reaction. Perth's finest mental health clods, not knowing what else to do, shipped his ass off to Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital, just a hop and a skip away.

A few days later, the actual mental patient wandered back on his own in time for lunch.

Now with a litigation slap, the hospital staff are all worried about who will actually catch hell for this.

I think a goodly number of Horror Thriller writers should jump on this. You know, based on a true story, etc.

When you're a Kaiju fan, there's just something so cool and reassuring about that rainbow glitter-glowing Toho logo.

Anyway, we open to a dark laboratory where presumably dark things are happening. What is really happening is that it's winter in World War II, Allied forces are invading Germany, and a scientist, Dr. Riesendorf (Peter Mann), is pleased with a red jar of Kool-Aid in a metal case.

When he hears a knock at the door, he excitedly thinks it's coming from the case he just closed.

No such luck. Nazis are at the door and they have a letter. Whatever it says, it has something to do with them wanting that Kool-Aid!

The scientist sadly gives them the case. Then, just as they are about to leave, stops them, and sadly gives them the key to the case. Then, as the last Nazi soldier is about to leave, he witnesses the scientist go on a rampage in his lab.

Straight away, I'm a huge fan of J.R.R. Tolkien.
Huge fan.
I've not only read The Hobbit and The Lord of The Rings, I've read The Adventures of Tom Bombadil (a book of poems which had very little Bombadil) and the posthumous work, Silmarillion: co-constructed/co-written by his son, Christopher. That said, there are fans of Tolkien who go far beyond my love of the books. They play the games, wear the tattoos written in Elfish, and have memories of the books and characters and their placements, representations, and meanings that run rings about me.

Still, I'm a huge Tolkien fan.

Except for the missing Tom Bombadil*, I'm also a huge fan of THE LORD OF THE RINGS by Peter Jackson and company.
