JUNE 15
From Betty La Pierre
HAWKING HAWKMAN
What happens to a man who once belonged to the Agency, had top secret clearance, suffered a head injury that affected the eyesight in one eye, and could no longer work in the field? He retires and starts his own Private Investigating Agency.
The ‘Hawkman Series’, consists of eleven books and follows the life of Agent Jim Anderson - with a new identity. In LURE OF THE WITCH, Tom Casey disappears into the hills of northern California where he moves into an ‘A’ Frame cabin on Copco Lake. He first acquaints himself with the locals and engages in rescuing sick birds of prey, before deciding to locate his private investigator office in Medford, Oregon. The people of the area immediately nicknamed him, ‘Hawkman’...thus the name of the series.
Ms. La Pierre takes you through the journeys of this man as a private detective and the phases of his life. Entwined deeply in his cases, you’ll find a man of strong character, with a Stetson hat on his head, cowboy boots on his feet, a patch over his eye and a falcon perched on his arm. You’ll take journeys with him you’ll never forget. Sometimes you’ll scream to warn him, other times you’ll cry through the stories. You’ll find adventure, mystery, excitement and passion in each book. The novels are all stand alone stories with complete plots and can be read in any order. However, Ms. La Pierre encourages you to read ‘THE ENEMY STALKS’ first, as it lays the ground work for a better understanding of Hawkman.

From Feo Amante
END OF THE STRAIN
Yes, the strain of waiting for del Toro's first novel is over. Guillermo Del Toro and Chuck Hogan's new vampire novel, THE STRAIN, smacks the store shelves tomorrow. And BOY can you judge THIS book by it's cover! Clearly it was written by Guillermo del Toro! Clearly it is called THE STRAIN, and just as clear is the name of the other guy, Chuck Hogan!
A plague has broke out in New York, hundreds of bodies are being found. Some whackjob knows what is going on but nobody is about to listen to some raving old fart! And thus the investigation begins.
Holy crap it's a vampire plague! (why does New York City always get the best plagues? Why?) But what is causing this new plague? Do you think, perhaps it could be, some new STRAIN?
These are Guillermo del Toro style vampires we're talking about here, so anyone who saw BLADE II knows this won't be about some silly-ass Anne Rice romantic vampires (unless you thought the trifurcated mouths of the bloodsuckers in BLADE II were sexy).
You should go and get the book and read it, instead of spoiling it with more information about it. But if you are one of those people who need lots of warning first (or you can't get enough of del Toro), check out the following news links:

From Robert Dunbar
PLUNGE INTO TERROR!
Sea mists conceal an ancient evil … and even pounding surf can’t drown out the screams at THE SHORE. This highly anticipated sequel to THE PINES sweeps the supernatural saga to a deserted resort town … in the dead of winter.
First Time in Paperback
Many years ago, a novel set in the New Jersey Pine Barrens created a sensation. THE PINES was hailed as “a classic of modern horror,” and its recent reissue has again stirred up a great deal of popular interest in the book as well as in the legends of the New Jersey pine barrens. Now Leisure Books is releasing Robert Dunbar’s terrifying sequel – THE SHORE – for the first time in paperback.
Can horror stories ever be serious literature? Obviously, Henry James thought so. So did Jane Austen and Edith Wharton. So did William Faulkner and Elizabeth Bowen. And Charles Dickens and Nikolai Gogol. Extraordinary writers have flourished in the genre, artists of the caliber of Algernon Blackwood, Shirley Jackson and Ray Bradbury. It’s only in recent years that market conditions (plus one or two other factors) have driven most serious literary practitioners to work in other genres. But a few bravely artistic souls still labor in the horror mines. And sometimes they unearth … treasures.
Robert Dunbar has been called the “demented lovechild of Faulkner and King.” His work has appeared in genre publications like Cemetery Dance and Dark Wisdom, City Slab and Doorways. He’s been a guest on numerous television shows, including ABC’s Scariest Places on Earth and The History Channels Weird US (as well as on scores of radio programs). In addition to the supernatural thrillers THE PINES and THE SHORE, he is also the author of the recent collection MARTYRS & MONSTERS.
Critical praise for THE SHORE,
“Breathtaking eloquence … a tour-de-force that can hold its own among the best work in the genre.”

From Stuart Neild
UNFATHOMABLE
The Lake District, the greenist emerald, in England's crown.
The thunderous beauty of its wild, rolling landscape and the crisp blue waters of its lakes hide a terrible secret.
An unstoppable force of nature that lurks, dark and forbidding, a force that mankind has never seen the like of... and may well be unable to survive.
They lurk... they hunt... they devour.
FATHOM
"When Fathom fell onto my desk, I just knew I had to publish it", said Neil Jackson, leading UK horror genre publisher and editor behind the recent revival of 70's and 80's horror master, Guy N Smith's killer crab series. "In 1978, when I read Night of the Crabs, it gave me a tingling horror buzz, I'd never had before, kind of like Vincent Price walking over your grave. FATHOM affected me in exactly the same way. 2009 is the year of the giant killer eel".
Fathom is written by Stuart Neild, author of A Haunted Man, the ghost hunter novel that found plaudits from real life ghost hunters, such as Julia Houston of Jules-Paranormal-Tour.co.uk
This time Stuart Neild does for the giant killer beast genre, what he did for the ghost fiction genre.
You can keep up with FATHOM updates on the authors website StuartNeild.wordpress.com.
