EDDIE
MCMULLEN'S FEATURING FAMOUS PEOPLE WHO DON'T KNOW ME! I joined Job Corps in Arizona, when I was 16. I was out of Job Corps and about to return to the fall semester of Arizona Western College when troubles in the Mid-East directly threatened American lives. I skipped college and joined the military - Navy, like all the guys on my Father's side of the family. 4 years later, with an honorable discharge, I returned to Arizona, but I didn't stay long. The Navy gave me a travelling Jones and I travelled all over the U.S. and parts outside - on my own - with friends - and so on. Tucson, AZ. was my home base. |

In Tucson, I worked at a bar called Someplace Else, for a guy named Jim Anderson. It was the most enjoyable job I ever had. He was a nut big time but also a good boss and his grooming habits later influenced my own. And mine changed THE WORLD! ahem... While working the bar at night, I went to The University Of Arizona during the day. I took Cinematography, Radio & Television, and Graphic Art classes. I quit the art classes when I discovered that I was making more money in a few months as a freelance artist, than my teacher had ever made off of his art in his whole professional life. That was a chin scratcher. After the bar lost its liquor license I did a number of different things. In addition to the travelling, I did a few local television commercials. I produced a concert in Reid Park for the Muscular Dystrophy Association; A Father's Day at Old Tucson event for the local chapter of the National Jaycees (I was voted Community Development Vice-president); and a Comedy Night at Gargoyles Coffee House to name a few. I soon discovered that I could do pretty much anything I set my mind to, which was a revelation. |

I tried my hand at Professional Stand-up Comedy and became a paid opener after doing only 3 months of Open Mikes. I did a number of Hell-gigs and went on a few brief tours before I decided that the smoke of about 500+ cigarettes a night, two shows a night, 4 nights a week, was not my thing. I wrote a fiction story called RATTLESNAKE TIE and sent it to EASY RIDER magazine. They published it in their sister edition, BIKER MAGAZINE. It was my first fiction sale. I made Houston, Texas my home base in 1995. It was there I realized that I was a Texan at heart. No group of strangers ever felt more like "My people", than Texans. Everybody should find such a place where their heart feels good. I trickled off of comedy and local television commercials and tried my hand at writing again. I worked at a regular job while I pursued my new dream. I fell in love a few times before finding the Right One, and got married. I created a website on a whim, flipped a coin on the two types of fiction that I love, made a Horror site, and the thing took off. Before I knew it I was meeting people whose work I'd admired all my life. In 2000 I published my second story. That same year I moved to California, tempted by a job offer that crashed because I poorly timed my move with the fall of the dot.coms. Who knew? No "Sooth Sayer seer" me. |

2000 through 2001, dot.com companies were crashing everywhere and it was hard to find a job in my field of Graphic Artist / Web Designer. I got what jobs I could and discovered that, in California, a Pizza delivery driver makes more money than a Graphic Artist with a bachelor's degree and 4 years on the job experience. That was an eye opener. Being a Freelance Graphic Artist isn't steady money, but it beats anything they pay in California. In 2000, my website hobby got over ten times as many hits as it did in 1999. It more than doubled that number in 2001. It more than doubled that again in 2002. Visitors loved the oddball look, the oddball feel, everything. That same year I sold two stories to two different print anthologies. In 2002 those two stories were published. In the first 6 months of 2002, my hobby website's hit count surpassed the 2001 total. I sold a third story in 2002 and made a non-fiction sale as well. Also in 2002, I designed 3 book covers for two different publishing companies. |

I am currently re-working two screenplays and waiting to hear back from 8 short stories I've sent out. I'm also putting the finishing touches on 6 novels of mine. The site is doing well; my writing is doing well. My wife and I are doing pretty good. Love is great. COPYRIGHT
