The challenge: It was time for an update. I was asked to make a book cover that would be familiar to the well received original while still appearing new and updated.

The original

The background image of water is reminiscent of the original (seen to the right). The cover lettering and their placement uses a new font as well as an updated photo of their doctor.

I added the red dot, which is updated with every new printing, of course.

I created this cover entirely in OS X on a dual G4 Mac using Adobe Photoshop 7 and InDesign 2. As always, I give the customer a choice between what they want, and what they might like.

As always, I provided the customer with at least two choices. Here is another idea I had for the cover.
