THE GHOST AND MR. CHICKEN - 1966
Director: Alan Rafkin
Writers: James Fritzell, Everett Greenbaum, Andy Griffith
Producer: Edward J. Mantagne
Music: Vic Mizzy |
ANCIENT HISTORY: Thanks to the success of The Andy Griffith Show, comic actor Don Knotts was on a riding high in the 1960s.
A high tall enough to make the leap into feature films and theaters and for that, a team of successful comedy television people all got together to make Don 's starring role in THE GHOST AND MR. CHICKEN.
Director Alan Rafkin already directed a number of the TV episodes and got along great with Don, so he got the job. THE GHOST AND MR. CHICKEN was enough of a hit to reunite the team of Don and Alan for several more features together. Alan went on to great acclaim directing some of the best television comedies including 48 episodes of It's Garry Shandling's Show and 86 episodes of Coach.
Writers James Fritzell and Everett Greenbaum were already part of the Andy Griffith Show team, knew Don's comedic timing and his strengths, and moved right into place with Alan.
Vic Mizzy was hot from writing the theme for the successful TV show, THE ADDAMS FAMILY.
