THE DEAD WALK AGAIN IN GRISLY "DEADLANDS: THE RISING"! (FeoNote: Hmmm. A zombie story called, of all things, The Rising. Hmmm. Now where have I heard of a zombie story called THE RISING before?) Where will you be when the dead walk the Earth? That's the eternal question asked in the debut feature film from director Gary Ugarek, Splatter Rampage's April 17, 2007 DVD release DEADLANDS: THE RISING Unexplained explosions rock several major U.S. cities. As the night unfolds, more mysterious events are yet to come. In Baltimore, five strangers take a stand as the world is rapidly consumed by the living dead! A man stuck in a traffic jam narrowly escapes to warn others of what's heading their way... best friends fight to return home and find the fate of their families... a mother and son desperately seek to escape the horrors gathering outside. While each human stands to fight and survive, the army of the dead continues to grow... "Best Zombie Movie" winner at the 2006 Fright Night Film Festival, DEADLANDS: THE RISING comes overflowing with bloody extras, including two audio commentaries, producer & director interviews, "I Am Zombie Man" short film and loads of trailers! The feature is presented in 16:9 anamorphic widescreen with 2.35:1 aspect ratio and Dolby Digital 2.0 stereo sound.
MARCH 13 QUICK BITE Visit his website, OmahaPerez.com. Check out the covers at his blog.
CALL OF THE WILD The biggest news for me is I've sold German-language rights for DEADLIEST OF THE SPECIES to Otherworld Verlag. Contracts have been signed, news has been posted, the bio's been written. They’ll translate it, slap on a new cover and German title, and release the book sometime in early '08. WEREWOLVES: Call of the Wild is back in Previews from publisher Moonstone Books. Speaking of Moonstone, they are publishing a prose anthology of The Phantom shorts. That's right, the purple-suited jungle hero from the Sunday strips and the Billy Zane flick from the 90's. I've got a story in there, and the book is expected to hit shelves this summer. In other comics news, it appears WOUNDED GODS will definitely be my next published project. We've got a pitch in to one publisher, and if they pass I've got a second waiting to snap it up. I hope I'll have more definite news there next time around. In the meantime, artist Patrick Hoover and I have started working on issue 2. Finally, Muy Mal is still going strong. Cataclysm will likely be wrapped by the time you read this, and volume one of Bastard Precinct finished just before New Year's. Down Vendetta Road is ongoing. Thanks to everyone who has already been reading, and I hope the rest of you will drop by soon.
TEXAS FRIGHTMARE WEEKEND A few new guest announcements for you all to salivate over: Our fiendish friends at Avatar Press really stepped up BIG TIME for Texas fright fans by connecting us with two more NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD legends: John Russo (NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD, RETURN OF THE LIVING DEAD) and Russ Streiner! Imagine! A whole stack of ooey-gooey Living Dead comics autographed by our latest gloriously ghoulish guests - and, oh yeah, that Romero fella too! As countless K-Tel commercials taught us: "But, wait, there's more!" Buffy the Vampire Slayer fans put out the call loud and clear (and often!) to see one of their fright faves. Our answer? HORROR BUSINESS - There's no business like Horror business. It's like no business I know. From 2005, Documentarian Christopher P. Garetano focuses his lens on the micro-budget Horror movie auteurs who barely skim the radar. SUBLIME - Weird Horror may not be your thing, but if it is, then television Producer turned Director Tony Krantz (MULHOLLAND DR., THE BEAST [TV], FRANKENSTEIN [TV 2004], BELIEVERS) might just turn you on with this tale of one very twisted hospital. HAPPY HORROR THRILLER BIRTHDAYS TO - Also, according to The History Channel.com, today in 1818, what is considered to be the story that birthed both Horror and Science Fiction was published. MARCH 7 From Sue Howison Also Asylum Press, publisher of comic books and graphic novels, announces the launching of two You Tube channels: Asylum Press and Goons Cartoons. Check out Asylum Press for more.
GREETINGS, LORD HOMICIDE! The novel should be released, at least in review copies, in about a month. It's my return to a type story I feel comfortable writing: borderline insanity. I get an idea and then imagine how I would write the story if I was totally nuts (most people close to me don't believe this is too much of a stretch) My heroes are usually losers striving to change their lives. This story idea came during an attempt to explain why normal people suddenly commit horrible crimes against innocent strangers: school attacks, restaurant shootings, and family killings. I created my view of the dimension we sometimes see when things dart past the corners of our eyes. Who is Nathan Bright? Nathan suddenly has gambling money, his dog talks, and he is the first human to see demons and to trash his life without their evil help. That makes him a special person, but none of them know why. The Lord of Homicides believes he could be the Second Coming of Christ, sent to disrupt a plan to start a chain reaction war to destroy all humans forever. Nathan doesn’t have a sober clue. He may die in Cincinnati on Fountain Square, and it won't be on a cross…unless someone can answer the question: Who is Nathan Bright? Dennis Latham, author of THE BAD SEASON and MICHAEL IN HELL, puts his dark comedy twist on the powerful control demons and angels often have over humans.

"I Am Providence" Those are the words emblazoned on the tombstone of the grandfather of Horror fiction, H.P. Lovecraft. H.P. Lovecraft is often confused by many as a Supernatural Horror writer. Yet every one of his stories maintain a strong grip on the logical, the rational, and reason above all. he peopled many of h his earlier works with tales of superstitious people who danced around worshipping some ancient god, only to have someone with a bigger hold on reality and a unique perspective on math, come along and do something "real world" to make some flopping tentacled beast pop out of some eldritch dimension. Lovecraft also holds the claim (in death) to having wrote Science Fiction stories that, even 75 years later, have not become obsolete. Inspirational both to Horror and Supernatural Science Fiction writers - L. Ron Hubbard (FEAR) based most of his Scientology religion on Lovecraft works - its time to take a walk with the Associated Press as they follow in his footsteps. Providence: Following the footsteps of a horror icon For more on Lovecraft read the following article. DREAMER OF THE DARK by Daniel Harms Reviews of his works or influenced works ALIEN RE-ANIMATOR THE ANCIENT TRACK by S.T. Joshi Websites:
NOT QUITE HORROR THRILLER My latest novel, NOT QUITE ONE OF THE BOYS, has been released by Afterbirth Books. Here's the description from the back of the book: One character dies, one is left for dead, and the other is kidnapped. And that’s just the first chapter of this dark comedy. Sit back with Time, and watch as God and Satan gamble over everyone, following the misadventures of a couple of drug dealers. Add in a cop who has delusions of being the superhero Napkin Man, and his wife, a sexaholic junkie, a splash of Dante for a taste of not so classic literature, and you may get some idea of what this religious satire has in store for you. Strap yourself in baby-waby for some Blender Fiction at its finest. Also, my short fiction collection, MISADVENTURES IN A THUMBNAIL UNIVERSE, published by Eraserhead Press, will be released in the next couple of weeks. HAPPY HORROR THRILLER BIRTHDAYS TO -
MARCH 5 QUICK BITES Also From James Randi Continued at Randi.org.
THE DEVIL'S CORPSES I know it's been a while since our last update, and everyone has been wondering what the hell has been going on in the land of Devil's Bluff. Well due to inclement weather in December we were unable to keep our shooting schedule, and had to postpone Dead Man's Hand until this spring. This gave us time to write yet another rewrite, replace the director, and bring in some more experienced people. Directing the film will be Ford Austin, you can look him up on IMDB, but he has a great resume, and is very passionate about this project. Also joining the cast is Melissa Bacelar who just recently completed "Eat your Heart Out" has done numerous other films, including a stint with the Troma team, and three years on the soap "One life to Live". You can read more about her on melissabacelar.com. And the famous Heidi Martinuzzi has verbally agreed to a cameo in the film. If you don't know who Heidi is you can IMDB her too. So things are coming together even better. Now we still need a special FX guru, the film actually will be made or broken by the special FX. I am still holding out hope for Cerberus Creations, but we have several back-ups if they don't pan out. Randy got a big gig with New line Cinema, so he won't be available for shooting til April. We have a tentative date for casting in the SF Valley for last week of March. In other news: Our new portal that has been in the works for over a year now is about 15-30 days from an official launch. Make sure to stop by UHMN.com and bring the horror con right to your desktop. And last but not least, Gunslinger Media has been courting Girls and Corpses Magazine since last August. We finally came to terms with Founder and Deaditor, Robert Rhine (SATAN'S POWDER ROOM, SATAN GONE WILD, SATAN'S 3-RING CIRCUS OF HELL), and we now own half the company along with Robert. This is a huge deal for us. We have taken a webzine and made it a real live magazine. We also did a 2007 calendar, and have opened a merchandise store online, girlsandcorpsesstore.com. Our first feature issue was due out this month but got slightly delayed as our printer cancelled us at the last minute due to questionable content. You can see the premiere cover (or part of it) on the website at girlsandcorpses.com, the cover features Sheri Moon Zombie along with a dead version of her horror icon husband Rob in the cemetery!
THE DEVIL'S CORPSES II Girls and Corpses Magazine is proud to announce the birth (or is it death?) of their premiere print issue. "This is the first comedy magazine about death," explains Girls and Corpses Deaditor-In-Chief Robert Steven Rhine," adding, "They said we couldn’t do it. They said we shouldn't do it. But after sixteen web issues, Girls and Corpses Magazine is now a full-fledged print magazine with 160 full-color-glossy-pages of humor and horror, interviews and reviews, fiction and non and, of corpse, graveyards full of hot gorgeous models posing with cold rotting corpses." The first launch issue of Girls and Corpses Magazine can be ordered now at: GirlsAndCorpses.com. We are also announcing the launch of Girls and Corpses TV, with the World Premiere of "Vinnie and Angela’s Beauty Salon & Funeral Parlor," and SICKCOM both written and produced by Girls and Corpses Publisher R.S. Rhine. The release of the first print issue began after Stephan Miller, of Gunslinger Media, came onboard to co-publish with R.S. Rhine. Explains Miller, "After the success of our calendar, we knew we were going to do this magazine and Robert and I, and our gravedigger Kevin Klemm, agreed there is no one better for our premiere issue than Sheri Moon Zombie." "We’ve been through the desert on a corpse with no name and it feels good to be out on the stand," grins R.S. Rhine (aka "The Grin Creeper").
DEATH ROW - A documentary crew, a la MTV's FEAR, makes a documentary on an old haunted Prison, and gets locked inside. Then the imprisoned ghosts make their play. Written and Directed by Kevin Van Hook (FROST, VOODOO MOON). DECOYS: THE SECOND SEDUCTION - While the original DECOYS had a certain naive charm, this one just goes for the late night Cinemax softporn. SAW stalwarts Tobin Bell and Dina Meyer choose to torpedo their burgeoning careers by starring in this one. Directed by Jeffrey Scott Lando (INSECTICIDE, ALIEN INCURSION). THE MANITOU - From 1978 comes Graham Masterton's novel in film form! A woman (Susan Strasberg) discovers that her tumor is actually a fetus - and not just any fetus, but the unborn spirit of an American Indian Demon! Whew! Cancer would have been better! Co-Wrote for the screen and Directed by William Girdler (GRIZZLY, DAY OF THE ANIMALS), who died before the movie was complete. REQUIEM - purports to be a drama based on the actual events as fantasized about in THE EXORCISM OF EMILY ROSE. While in the Emily Rose movie, it seemed clear that the family was a little nuts, that film put the blame directly on the shoulders of the Catholic Priest. In REQUIEM, the blame is put squarely on the shoulders of (real life Anneliese Michel) Michaela Klinger's parents, who are portrayed as fanatically religious. Directed by Hans-CHristian Schmid (23). STRANGE CIRCUS - From Japan comes this Psycho Thriller (Ah! Uh! Uh! Uh! Uh! Uh! Uh! Uh! Uh! Uh! Uh! Ah!) that wants to mess with your mind. A teenage girl is drawn into her parents sex games (ew!). Or maybe she's just imagining it (huh?). Or maybe she doesn't exist at all but is only a character in a book (what?). Written and Directed by Sion Sono (SUICIDE CLUB, EKUSUTE).

MARCH 1
We enjoyed a 61% increase in visitors for February 2007 over February of 2006. How freakin' cool is that? As far as I can tell, feoamante.com is the only Horror Thriller website that has enjoyed annual non-stop steady growth without a single month ranking lower than the same month of the previous year. As I do every month, I want to thank yall for coming here and enjoying the site. To see my work as well as the work of all of my contributors so appreciated means a hell of a lot. (sniff! Don't look at me! DON'T YOU F*CKING LOOK AT ME!) Anyway - Want to see how well we are doing in relation to other Horror Thriller websites? Check out Snapshot.Compete.com. Then fill in the boxes with any websites you like (register to add more boxes to your search - registration is free). Bear in mind that the site only counts visitors within the U.S. and only unique visitors. Still, it gives you a good indication of how far we've come, and how far we want to go. That said, we don't want to get there alone. The point of feoamante.com is not to "kick the ass" of our competition, but to get more people interested in - and appreciating - Horror, Thriller, Mystery, and Suspense in all forms of fiction. If you run your own Horror, Thriller, Mystery, or Suspense site and want to raise your numbers, contact me! Let's talk about the free exchange of content and information to raise all of our bars. If you are a creator in Horror, Thriller, Mystery, and/or Suspense in fiction, contact me! Let's talk about getting your promotional press release together so my visitors will get a chance to read about your work and find out as much about you and/or your project as you want. If you are a fan of the site and have some ideas that you think would make the site better, contact me! If you are someone who is trying to sell something and you like my numbers, contact me! Let's talk about you footing the bill! Email to: Feo Amante
THE EDEN FORMULA (FeoNote: First off, if you know me you know I LOVE giant monster movies. I don't care if the varmints became huge through radiation or pop-rocks, I wanna see a city stomped! So I'm pretty psyched about this news) Woodland Hills, CA How do you survive when a genetically engineered Tyrannosaurus Rex is running rampant? Find out in THE EDEN FORMULA coming to DVD on March 27 from Westlake Entertainment. The film stars Jeff Fahey (PSYCHO 3, THE LAWNMOWER MAN), who is in the upcoming feature film, Grindhouse from Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez. Also stars Dee Wallace-Stone (CRITTERS, THE FRIGHTENERS, ABOMINABLE, THE PLAGUE) and Tony Todd (CANDYMAN, FINAL DESTINATION, VALERIE ON THE STAIRS). THE EDEN FORMULA is written and directed by John Carl Buechler (TROLL, CELLER DWELLER, DEEP FREEZE). In the industrial district of downtown Los Angeles, Dr. Harrison Parker (Fahey) has developed the "Eden Formula." This new, revolutionary, cutting-edge technology can actually synthetically reproduce virtually any organism and it does! Locked away in a subterranean vault is a prehistoric creature created by the scientists at Calgorin Industries to impress their stockholders. Unknown to Dr. Parker, his research has been used to genetically create a giant Tyrannosaurus Rex (FeoNote: Good idea! It would sure as shit impress me)! When a group of industrial spies break into the Calgorin Industries to try and steal the formula, they encounter more than they bargained for when they unwittingly release the monster! In a race against time, Rhonda Shapton (Wallace-Stone), top executive at Calgorin Industries and Dr. Parker try and stop the rampaging beast from its killing spree.
