The original MUNSTERS were before my time, but when I was a pre-schooler, the show was in syndication and my Pop used to stare at me quizzically as I laughed hard enough at the show to cough up a lung. He never found anything funny in THE MUNSTERS - in fact he hated it (he was a huge ADDAMS FAMILY fan and felt that THE MUNSTERS was a mere rip-off. I enjoyed both). But he allowed me to watch it anyway if for no other reason than to sit there, trying to fathom the humor of his very young son. Today Lily Munster, Actor Yvonne De Carlo (MUNSTERS GO HOME, THE POWER, LA CASA DE LOS SOMBRAS, SATAN'S CHEERLEADERS, NOCTURNA, SILENT SCREAM, THE MUNSTER'S REVENGE, VULTURES, PLAY DEAD, AMERICAN GOTHIC, CELLAR DWELLER, MIRROR MIRROR), has died in Los Angeles at the age of 84. THR3E ON THE EIGHTH Well, well, well, here we are on January 6th and Thr3e the movie has opened in roughly 450 screens across America. There's been a lot of buzz in the Circle and all kinds of comments thrown about by some who know and many who don't. So here's some information to help us all to put the release of THR3E into perspective. Bottom line, I've always believed that there is a huge audience for meaningful thrillers and THR3E is the first, albeit rather small, shot across the bow. The reporting is bearing that out. Now the bad news: We currently have 3 more movies slated for release over the next two years (HOUSE, BLINK, SHOWDOWN) and all will raise the bar. If they proceed as planned. That is up to all of us. (FeoNote: Actor Bill Moseley [TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE 2, ARMY OF DARKNESS, HOUSE OF 1000 CORPSES, THE DEVIL'S REJECTS], is drumming up support for THR3E in his bulletins at MySpace.com/MoseleyFish.)
BLOOD TEA AND RED STRING - If you like your fantasy dark and your stop motion animation creepy, this movie might be your bag. It took Director Christiane Cegavske over 12 years to make this film. I WAS A TEENAGE MOVIE MAKER - Every hard core Horror fan knows of Don Glut (DINOSAUR VALLEY GIRLS, THE EROTIC RITES OF COUNTESS DRACULA, THE MUMMY'S KISS, COUNTESS DRACULA'S ORGY OF BLOOD) and both his feature length and short Horror films. As a director of fiction, Don was never very good at what he did, but remains obsessively sincere and driven. In this double DVD set, you get 41 of his short films plus the documentary of his life. THE LOST CITY - In 1935, in addition to power mad preachers, priests, and others willing to invent Boo Boo Ghosts and other fraud, the most horrible thing of all was the one thing that brought light to the darkness of ignorance, and that was science. So the woo woo crowd invented the idea of The Mad Scientist, who will surely take over the world with his power mad schemes! By 1935, this idea was already so played out that writers George Merrick and Robert Dillion wrote THE LOST SERIES where a young heroic scientists actually fights and, battle by battle, wins against the stereotype of the evil Mad Scientist. Are writers still trotting out this "Evil Science" idea which was old and worn out back in 1935? Yes, and those kinds of writers are known as unimaginative hacks. In defense of Mad Scientists, though, I have to say that if you weren't allowed to tell the truth about things, like the age of THE GRAND FREAKING CANYON, you'd get pretty mad too! THE LOST CITY contains all 12 chapters in the serial. THE NIGHT LISTENER - You may think Robin Williams is one hell of a funny guy - and yer right! But anyone who saw his performance as the slightly psychotic psychiatrist in DEAD AGAIN knows that Robin can play evil with chilly menace. Robin has taken to indie movies of late for his serious side with some success. In tomorrow's release of THE NIGHT LISTENER, Robin plays a radio show host who finds himself with a new, young caller and fan - who may not really exist. THE ILLUSIONIST - For fans of Mystery Thrillers and magic comes the DVD release of THE ILLUSIONIST with Edward Norton and Rufus Sewell. As usual, Paul Giametti steals the show from everyone. MAD COWGIRL - Every year - if its a good year - has its most oddball Horror movie and MAD COWGIRL has got to be it. Therese (Sarah Lassez: THE CLOWN AT MIDNIGHT, IN PURSUIT) may have mad cow disease. If so, she is going to go on a mad killing rampage. But what if she doesn't have a reason for revenge? Can her lover, the televangelist, keep her on the straight and narrow? MONSTER MARTYR TIME! I just got some incredible news the other day. Next fall, Delirium Books will release my first volume of short fiction, a book called MARTYRS & MONSTERS. Thematically linked (and orchestrated), my stories range from horror and dark fantasy to science fiction and suspense. Beware: there's even a shocking dose of plain old literary fiction. I'm very excited about this project: especially since Greg F. Gifune, an author I admire boundlessly, has written the introduction. One of my short stories will be in the new IN DELIRIUM II anthology, edited by John Everson. The Delirium Books stable of talent is truly awesome, and my work will appear with tales by some of the top writers in the field: Brian Keene, Rick Hautala, David Niall Wilson, Kealan Patrick Burke and Harry Shannon are just the tip of the iceberg. Interesting developments continue to - well, develop. For one thing, reception of the new Delirium Books edition of THE PINES still just blows me away. In the past months, overwhelming positive reviews have appeared in publications like The Horror Fiction Review and Dark Wisdom, resulting in an impressive amount of critical appreciation overall. THE SHORE is about to emerge from the depths of Delirium Books. I was lucky enough to have Mike Bohatch do the cover for this sequel to THE PINES, and it's brilliantly evocative.
TERROR TIME To celebrate 2007, I've updated my website: LeannaChamish. Read about my latest accomplishments, such as my lead role in the feature film "Terror in the Pharaoh's Tomb". My website update also features a tribute to filmmaker Don Dohler, my dear friend who just passed away. 2006 was awesome - I plan to keep up the pace in 2007! TERROR IN THE PHAROAH'S TOMB (feature film), in which I play the wicked queen, was completed and premiered. I had a lead role in DEAD HUNT (feature film, the last Don Dohler shot), which was also completed and premiered. I played book agent Carol in FEAR OF CLOWNS 2 (feature, Lion's Gate release) and was a newscaster in SWARM OF THE SNAKEHEAD (feature). From Mark Worthen The stories on this site are serialized, and each contributor will build their tales over the course of time, thereby helping our fictional locale to evolve and grow. Each section stands on its own, although there may be crossovers and cameos in future installments. Readers need not read each section, but the full history (and future) of Ahmen's Landing will be in the hands of each contributor. Visit Ominous Landing. HAPPY HORROR THRILLER BIRTHDAYS TO -

Horror Thriller writer, F. Paul Wilson has his latest newsletter out. He wants you to know that not a whole lot happened with him in the month of December. He sez. Unless you count, perhaps, HIS OPEN HEART SURGERY! "12/6 – I entered NY-Presbyterian Hospital for open heart surgery to repair a leaking mitral valve. They tell me it’s probably been defective since I was born but made itself known only over the past few years. A series of cardiologists told me it was time to get it fixed, and better sooner than later, before it compromised my left ventricle. It's been scheduled since the summer but I've kept it quiet. 12/7 – Well, they were able to repair the valve rather than replace it. This is good. As expected, there’s a ton of pain but I learn something: I’ll never be an opiate addict. The morphine makes me sick as a dog, and percocet makes me queasy. 12/10 – I convinced them to let me go home. I was in excellent physical shape before the surgery, with a cardiac cath revealing “pristine” coronary arteries, so why not? I’m not in for a bad heart, just one bum valve.
12/18 – after becoming progressively shorter of breath over the weekend, I order a chest x-ray on myself. It shows a partially collapsed lung and a large amount of fluid (hydropneumothorax) on the right side. So it’s back to NY-Pres. 12/19 – they insert a chest tube (an experience that rockets to #1 on my Top Ten List of Things I Never Want To Do Again), and drain off a liter of bloody fluid. 12/21 – after 40-odd hours they remove the tube and send me home. I never want to go back. Being on a first-name basis with most of the staff in the Cardio-Thoracic wing is not a good thing. Lovely people, but I'll be very happy never to see them again. 12/28 – a follow-up x-ray shows a residual fluid level, but the lung is fully expanded." Yeah, F. Paul! Except for nearly losing Repairman Jack, not much happened in December for you! Sheesh! So my habit of giving friends a friendly punch in the chest upon meeting will no longer apply to F. Paul. At least for this year. Visit him at Repairman Jack. HAPPY HORROR THRILLER BIRTHDAYS TO -

MONDAY'S MUNDI My erstwhile artist Jim Di Bartolo and I are collaborating on a little Rex Mundi project! Together again. We came up with a story set about fifteen years before the events of Rex Mundi take place. I can't say anything more right now, but I'm very excited about this. Sometime soon - probably next month, but certainly early in 2007 - we'll be making the official announcement about the Rex Mundi movie project. In case you're not aware, Johnny Depp (A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET, FREDDY'S DEAD: THE FINAL NIGHTMARE, EDWARD SCISSORHANDS, THE NINTH GATE, THE ASTRONAUT'S WIFE, SLEEPY HOLLOW, PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: THE CURSE OF THE BLACK PEARL, CORPSE BRIDE, PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: DEAD MAN'S CHEST) is interested in making a Rex Mundi movie. Read all about it here. Words can't even begin to describe my feelings. Most of the time I wonder if I'm not just trapped in a deranged Matrix head trip. Assuming I'm not stuck in the Matrix, I owe an enormous debt of gratitude to Sam Sarkar, a producer at Johnny Depp's company, Infinitum Nihil. I've said this before, and it's true: I'm lucky to have so many terrific people working on the Rex Mundi movie. I met Sam last year at the San Diego Comic-con. Sam is one of the nicest, smartest, coolest guys I've ever met. He defies every single stereotype of a film producer. There have been one or two behind-the-scenes crises along the way in the Rex Mundi movie, and it's literally true that if Sam and Johnny Depp weren't so dedicated and committed, neither I nor Rex Mundi would be where we are. I'm sorry to be so cryptic, Dear Reader, about the exact nature of the "behind-the-scenes crises", but I really can't get into more detail. Sam, more than anyone else, guided me through the aforementioned crises. He made Rex Mundi his personal project, made sure it didn't die. Having worked so hard for so long on Rex Mundi, it means more to me than perhaps he knows. Sam sort of broke me in to Hollywood, to the insanity of making films. He helped me understand that all the disasters and crises I've gone through with Rex Mundi are, ultimately, normal. The normal state of being in Hollywood is a state of total anarchy and chaos. It's terrific having a friend like Sam to keep some of the vampires at bay.
THR3E ON THE FIFTH In 2004 thousands of Christian bookstores voted THR3E as the best novel of the year and the Evangelical Christian Publishers Association (ECPA) awarded it The Gold Medallion. On January 5th 2007 - THR3E comes to theatres. Don't miss the opportunity to see this exciting movie on the big screen. When young seminary student - Kevin Parsons - is targeted by a serial killer, he joins forces with a criminal psychologist whose brother was murdered by the same madman. Together they must unravel the killer's riddles and catch him before he strikes again, but the closer they get, the more twisted the path becomes. This heart-pounding thriller will keep you guessing right up until the final scene! While THR3E is an exciting and intense thriller, it also contains a strong redemptive theme, and challenges us to consider our own personal struggle with evil. Here is what the story's author, Ted Dekker has to say about THR3E: "This film is an exploration of Romans 7 in which Paul describes the struggle with sin we all face on a daily basis by stating, "The good that I would, that I do not, but the evil I would not, that I do." It struck me while I was developing this story that there are 3 personalities in this sentence, the good, the evil and the "I", that soul struggling between good and evil. Much like the age old picture of a person with an angel on one shoulder and the devil on the other." (FeoNote: THR3E is directed by Robbie Henson (THE BADGE, THE VISITATION), with a screenplay co-wrote by Alan B. McElroy (HALLOWEEN 4, SPAWN, WRONG TURN) and stars Bill Moseley (THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE 2, THE BLOB [1988], ARMY OF DARKNESS, HOUSE OF 1000 CORPSES, THE DEVIL'S REJECTS), Priscilla Barnes (UNSEEN EVIL 2, THE DEVIL'S REJECTS, THE VISITATION), Sherman Augustus (VIRUS), and Marc Blucas (BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER [TV]).)
In the US, new DVDs are released every Tuesday. ANGST - A whacked out Horror Comedy from Germany about a woman who is constantly getting raped by men who evaporate midway through the act. Is she really being raped, or is it all in her mind? And if its real, where do they go? Stars Fiona Horsey (LOVESICK: SICK LOVE, TWISTED SISTERS) and written and directed by Wolfgang Büld (LOVESICK: SICK LOVE, TWISTED SISTERS). THE CONVENANT - Nobody wanted to watch this Horror Thriller about a bunch of young spoiled jerks having supernatural super powers and being threatened by a bigger supernatural jerk. Then again, it was directed by Renny Harlin (A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET 4, DEEP BLUE SEA, EXORCIST: THE BEGINNING) and with his reputation, well ... you know. THE DARKROOM - Indie psychological Horror flick generated no small amount of buzz. Directed by writer Michael Hurst (MANSQUITO, ROOM 6, THE GRAVEYARD, THE BUTCHER) and starring Lucy Lawless (GINGER SNAPS, SPIDER-MAN). EVENT HORIZON - Paul W. Anderson's nearly good flick gets the box treatment thanks to it's small but loyal cult of fans. Beware though, this is not the first "special" or "collector's edition" but it's still just one disc. SHEITAN - From France comes this dark Horror Comedy that takes place on Christmas Eve no less. SILENT SCREAM - College students go out into the winter woods one weekend, blah, blah, you know the drill. If you saw it when it was called THE RETREAT, nothing has changed except the title. SNAKES ON A PLANE - Starring perennial Horror Thriller actors, Samuel L. Jackson (THE EXORCIST III, JURASSIC PARK, DEEP BLUE SEA, SPHERE, UNBREAKABLE, KILL BILL VOl. 2, THE INCREDIBLES) and Lin Shaye (A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET, CRITTERS, Wes Craven's NEW NIGHTMARE, 2001 MANIACS, Snoop Dogg's HOOD OF HORROR). Directed by David R. Ellis (FINAL DESTINATION 2, CELLULAR). SOMEONE BEHIND THE DOOR (1971) - From France is this tale of a nutso psychiatrist who goes bananas when his wife leaves him. Stars Anthony Perkins (PSYCHO [all]), Charles Bronson (HOUSE OF WAX, TELEFON), and Jill Ireland. SPIRIT TRAP - A house turns haunted when one of four college students starts a "spirit clock". ZOMBIE NATION - The only reason that German writer / director Uwe Bolles is held in such high regard is because Ulli Lommel is right beneath him. As awful as this movie is, like Uwe's flicks, its worth the rental alone just to hear the director's commentary!
Writer Bentley Little (THE MAILMAN, UNIVERSITY, THE IGNORED, DOMINION, THE TOWN, DEATH INSTINCT) is 47. And On Sunday - Early in his career, this actor pretty much played in anything that would have him. In his later years, however, when his success allows himi to pick and choose, he's been choosing Horror, Thriller, Mystery, and Suspense more often than not. Happy Birthday to Actor Anthony Hopkins (AUDREY ROSE, MAGIC, DESPERATE HOURS, THE SILENCE OF THE LAMBS, FREEJACK, DRACULA [1992], THE EDGE, INSTINCT, TITUS, HANNIBAL, HEARTS IN ATLANTIS, RED DRAGON, THE HUMAN STAIN) who is 69. Look for Anthony's upcoming Horror Thrillers for 2007, FRACTURE and BEOWULF. Also slated for 2007, a Suspense Thriller that Anthony wrote and directed: SLIPSTREAM. Actor Embeth Davidtz (MUTATOR, SWEET MURDER, ARMY OF DARKNESS, MURDER IN THE FIRST, FALLEN, THE GINGERBREAD MAN, LAST RITES, SIMON MAGUS, THE HOLE, THIR13EN GHOSTS) is 41. Writer/Artist James O'Barr (THE CROW, THE CROW: SHATTERED LIVES AND BROKEN DREAMS) is 47. Actor Writer / Director / Producer Sean S. Cunningham (THE LAST HOUSE ON THE LEFT, FRIDAY THE 13TH, HOUSE, HOUSE II, DEEP STAR SIX, MY BOYFRIEND'S BACK, JASON X, FREDDY VS. JASON) is 65. And On Saturday - Actor Eliza Dushku (SOUL SURVIVORS, ANGEL [TV], BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER [TV], TRU CALLING [TV]) is 26. Look for Aliza in the Horror Thriller, OPEN GRAVES, slated for 2008. Writer / Director / Producer / Actor Lloyd Kaufman (SUGAR COOKIES, MOTHER'S DAY, THE TOXIC AVENGER, CLASS OF NUKE 'EM HIGH, SGT. KABUKIMAN N.Y.P.D., HELLINGER, TERROR FIRMER, POULTRYGEIST, SLITHER, and over 100 more) is 61. Actor Ellen Sandweiss (THE EVIL DEAD, SATAN'S PLAYGROUND) is 48. Look for her in the upcoming Horror Thrillers, THE OCEAN and THE DREAD, both slated for a 2007 release.
